World Buddhist Outstanding Leader Award

A marquee honor in Jagath’s collection, this award was presented by the Office of the Thai Prime Minister and the World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth in February 2014. Jagath was one of only five global recipients and was recognized “for his dedicated service to the Buddha Sasana” – essentially applauding his efforts in protecting and spreading Buddhism internationally.

Jagath has been widely recognised for his leadership, philanthropy, and service across religious, educational, and cultural spheres. He has been invited to serve in numerous honorary advisory roles, reflecting the high regard in which he is held nationally and internationally.

    • Former Chairman of the Billiat Association, contributing to religious and community welfare initiatives.
    • Director on the Board of Nagamuwa University, supporting higher education governance.
    • Former Advisory Board Member to the Department of Archaeology, playing a role in national heritage preservation.
    • Founding Member of the Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE), encouraging youth entrepreneurship and leadership in Sri Lanka.
    • Vice President of the World Federation of Buddhists, reflecting his global stature in Buddhist affairs.
    • Guest Speaker at UNESCO in 2023, representing Sri Lanka on international platforms for heritage and cultural dialogue.
    • He is the Patron of the Old Anandians Buddhist Association, a distinguished role from his alma mater, Ananda College.
    • President of the Bauddhaloka Foundation, a charitable organisation focused on preserving Buddhist heritage and supporting education.
